Welcome to my website. I am very pleased that you have found me and look forward to being of use to you. Allow me to tell you a little about myself.
My first degree was in Fine Art and taught me how to use my imagination. Later I studied academic psychology and stayed on to research how our understanding of the human mind and its effect upon our behaviour has changed over time. I taught research methods. I was also the associate editor for the history of Psychology on the British Psychological Society's flag ship magazine "The Psychologist" for five years, four of which were spent in charge of the dedicated monthly history page that I helped to start.
Early retirement has given me the opportunity to pursue my fascination for that area of the function of the human mind that I find most wonderful; our ability to access useful states of consciousness. Therefore I studied and gained my diploma in hypnotherapy and my practitioner certificate in NLP from one of only two training schools in the country who are accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) to provide training in hypnotherapy as continuing professional development for their members. The BPS imposes rigorous standards that ensure a high level of training.
I have also trained with some of the best hypnotists in the world today; including Dr Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna, and Anthony Jacquin.
My relevant qualifications are:-
Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy
Practitioner certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming
Smoking Cessation Specialist
Weight Management Specialist
I am a member of:

If you have issues that you would like to address, if there are things you need, or would like to do, but feel unable to face then you are in the right place. Perhaps you've heard that other people with similar difficulties have been helped with hypnotherapy. You might have seen the beneficial effects upon other people or possibly you simply have a healthy curiosity about how this process might serve you. In any of these cases I suggest that you get in contact with me.
Some people understand that deep relaxation is beneficial, but have not been able to access the state through meditation. In this case self hypnosis could be the rout to go and I can teach you how to get there. Hypnosis is a normal state that happens to everyone naturally at least twice a day and we can all learn how to access it for our own benefit.
Perhaps you just want to feel happier or more resilient generally? If you will allow me I can to teach you how the good feelings in happy memories can make your future brighter.
I can also assist you with, for instance:- | |
Smoking cessation | Low self esteem |
Weight loss | Blushing |
Phobias | Bruxism (that's teeth grinding) |
Stress | Fear of flying |
*IBS | Low self confidence |
*Pain | Public speaking |
*Anxiety | Stuttering |
*Low mood | YIPS |
*I will contact your GP, with your permission, and work alongside your medical team. |
Phone me for a free chat and we can discuss your wishes and what you would hope to gain from hypnotherapy.
If you want to give up smoking only one, approximately two hour, appointment will be needed and that will cost £150.
For everything else a one hour appointment will be £60
The first appointment will be mostly spent finding out about each other and gauging how well we are likely to work together. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process and the best results are obtained when two people are in harmony. I will need to ask you about your medical history as well as what you want to achieve with hypnotherapy and we will decide whether we want to make that journey together. That appointment might last 90 minutes, but it will still be charged as an hour.
With any health issue it is essential that medical advice is sought and followed prior to contacting me.
Hypnotherapy is effective. However, results may vary and success is not guaranteed. It is a collaborative process and full commitment is needed from both parties. If we decide to work together I will give my full commitment to you. You should be equally committed and there will be homework with most hypnotherapeutic interventions. This is generally very pleasant, but it is important that you do it.
